Serostim^® [somatropin (rDNA origin) for injection] is a human growth hormone and improves physical endurance. It is mainly indicated for the treatment of HIV wasting in patients receiving antiretroviral therapy.

Studies have shown that patients with HIV wasting who were given Serostim ® for 12 weeks significantly increased their weight, lean body mass, physical endurance, and reported that they felt better in terms of decreased concern over weight and appearance, increased pleasure in eating and an increase in health-related quality of life outcomes. Patients who continued to use Serostim^® for an additional 12 weeks maintained or further increased these positive outcomes.
